At Secret Cycles, we recognize that with the Olympics almost in full swing and the city serious lacking some snow, we will be moving into a pretty earlier commuter season and spring/summer.

So all this has led us to believe that the earlier you can get on your bike, the better. The more fuel you save, the better shape you will be in for the coming riding season, and most importantly the fun you will have on a commuter bike are just some of the reasons why you should pick one up this spring.

In this article I’ve decided the showcase the 2010 Brodie Infinity. I am a huge fan of what Brodie does with their commuter bikes. All the detail in design, choice of components, and value all stand out when you look at their ‘Express’ line.

This is our fully kitted out Brodie Infinity. The bike is jam packed with little details that make your life as a commuter easier.

First off, the retro colors look amazing. The pearl white on brown and gold make this bike look retro and old school without sacrificing any technical features of the new school components. These components include a triple ring Shimano Tiagra road crank set, Shimano 105 rear derailleur, 11-25t Shimano road cassette, 700c Kore Gradient II wheel set and even Shimano Hydraulic Disc Brakes! With an all-star team of components like that you have to think this bike is meant not only for high speed, but also, challenging city terrain and big brakes for the times when that speed gets a little too fast.

The little styling details on this bike, not only look good, but have purpose as well.

The integrated headset looks great and gives the front end of the bike a smooth look while letting you to run a bar height and angle more to your liking for those long hauls without getting the headset stack in the way. As well, it keeps the dirty dangerous muck and chemicals from the road out of the precious smooth bearings in your steering.

The hydraulic disc brake calipers are mounted inside the rear triangle seat and chain stays making the included from Brodie fender and pannier racks mount with zero interference or modification. This is a huge feature that a lot of other manufacturers fail to approach with any better solutions.

Some extras we’ve taken the liberty of adding to the 2010 Brodie Infinity are front and rear lights, a lock, and water bottle. As you see it here, we have it fully ready to take that long or short commute to work.

The parts we included are perfect additions to an already great bike. The light system is a Blackburn Mars 1.0 and Voyager 3.3 kit, that I featured in our new products blog about a month back. The kit sports a fully removable clip system that attaches right onto the rear fender and provides you with the safe LED light you need to get around town in those dark times, with a very impressive running time.

To keep you bike safe when your not around a Kryptonite standard lock is perfect. Mounted conveniently right on your bike, this lock allows you to ride around with nothing hanging around your neck or added weight to your pannier rack or backpack.

All these extras give you the ability to tackle that commute, whether it be treacherous or a Sunday cruise.
